From a beautiful dock on Hobcaw Creek

Hard to believe nearly 5 years have pasted since my last post.  It's been nearly that long since we've had time to enjoy our old Cargile.  With the beautiful Spring we're having, and SunSmiles now docked closer to home, it's time to get back on the water.  While work and the desire to spend time with grandchildren cuts into multi-day cruising, we'll be exploring our new cruising waters of the Cooper and Wando Rivers that feed the Charleston Harbor.  And the ICW is the way to visit the grands by boat.

After far too many months of little use, SunSmiles is in need of some serious TLC.  The good news is the old 5.7 still purrs like a kitten, and thanks to a dehumidifier, the cabin needs very little dusting and cleaning.  TLC projects will include;
  • A new coat of gelcoat on the sundeck
  • Installing the "new" used marine A/C unit and freeing up more sundeck with the removal of the original camper-style A/C.
  • Refastening the bilge hatches
  • New paint and carpet in the main cabin
  • New bases for the bridge seating
  • Seriously polishing all brightwork
  • A professional detailing of the exterior
  • If a good used waterheater comes along, we'll be installing that, too.
 While SunSmiles was never intended as a "dock ornament," it as served that purpose well in recent years.  Beautiful sunsets over the Wando River and Hobcaw Creek take away some of the sting of not leaving the dock.
