Ever heard of Clay Rice? You may have heard of him as one of our country's premier silhouette artists. Author Pat Conroy describes Clay as a "great talent who combine soul and talent." The same can be said about Rice as a song writer and musician. There's something about his music that makes working on the boat much more enjoyable. Then again, there's nothing quite like being anchored on a quiet creek, sipping a cold brew, reading or writing as Clay's music sets the mood of the day. Take a listen to one my favorite Clay Rice tunes, "You're My Island."
From Key West to the Canadian border there are wonderful, destinations, marinas, attractions, restaurants, and businesses that welcome cruisers and leisure boaters. Coast Tales is a blog to share stories of favorite cruising waters, the boats we see and friends we make along the way. It even allows us to add a little fiction, music, and galley fare, from time to time. Coast Tales is dedicated to the memory of Captain Lucas M. Smith.

Music For Working on the Boat
